In this rural mountainous area of Nicaragua many families depend on corn and beans for food, and cofee and cocoa for income. Unfortunately, eratic rainfall, crop disease, and limited markets, have made life very difficult in this part of the country. This program will work with families to increase the productivity of their staple crops and help them to diversify their production. The program will also work with the local coop, where many families are members, to improve their marketing and credit services to male and female farmers.
This program is part of LWR's gender initiative and will have a focus on increasing gender equity through providing better services to all family members in the co-op.
