Upcoming Growing Project Events

Every year our growing projects celebrate their harvests, hold fundraisers and hold a variety of other events.  Following are those that have been scheduled so far.  Please check back often for updates.

Polo IL GP Harvest Celebration

Join the Polo IL Growing Project at their fall Harvest Celebration on Saturday, October 8th, beginning with an early noon lunch hosted by the Polo Church of the Brethren followed by a field demonstration at the project site a couple miles south of Polo. It would be wonderful to have you join in this year’s Harvest Celebration!

It is an act of epochal proportions that the Polo Growing Project over its 10-year history has netted proceeds of almost a third of a million dollars ($329,302) to boost food and income for smallholder farmers in hunger-stricken communities abroad. Polo’s proceeds, invested through Foods Resource Bank, are at work in Kenya, Guatemala, North Korea, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Honduras.

Sharing the Harvest Apple Packing

Join Sharing the Harvest on thier apple packing day on Saturday, October 29th.  It is a great chance to get people involved with global mission and development and more deeply connected to the Covenant (We have 21 participating churches!).  We also work hard to make it a fun event with a great BBQ lunch, cider pressing, activities for the kids, and an opportunity to bag apples.  This is also an opportunity for folks to transport their apples back to their churches, which makes an impact on the entire project.
