How Do I Get Involved?
I don’t want 170,000,000 children under the age of 5 to go to bed hungry tonight: what can I do to help prevent this from happening?
I can contact FRB to see about starting a growing project in my area
I can put together a leadership committe in my community or church
I can pledge the annual use of some land to a growing project
I can provide or perhaps bring about a donation of some inputs (seed, fertilizer, weed or insect control) to an existing growing project
I can offer my time, expertise and the use of my farm machinery for land preparation, planting or harvest
I can use my energy and creativity to organize a community event (auction, rummage sale, walk-a-thon, you name it!) to benefit FRB
I can contribute some dollars to a growing project to cover those costs which are not donated, or to sponsor an acre
I can design or print signs or advertising materials for a projectI can inform local newspapers, TV and radio stations about Foods Resource Bank to see if they'd like to do a story or cover a local event
I can open my heart to the hungry
I can educate myself on world hunger issues
I can contact (call, write, fax, email) my Senators and Congressmen/women and ask for their support in requesting USAID matching funds to support FRB's overseas programs
I can volunteer
I can join FRB's Bev Abma, Program Director, on visits to overseas programs, and, with my very presence among these hardworking people, assure them that, yes, people care about them and their children
I can call 1-888-276-4FRB (-4372) about any of the above.
I can follow the advice of Gomu Tolku: "While practicing generosity, we should always remember how very fortunate we are to have this opportunity. "
I can feel good that I am helping to bring immediate, tangible meaning to the words from Jesus' first sermon, "I have come to bring good news to the poor."
