Excerpts from a report for the period from July 1 though September 30, 2009
Output objective: Communities work together to care for orphans and vulnerable children.

Thirty-seven (37) communities are working together in caring for orphans by producing foods. Each of these also has a nursery school with 3,021 children receiving food.
Output objective: Communities work together on food security and health initiatives using small grants.

Eighteen community plans have been developed and approved.
Output objective: Community members have increased knowledge of community health issues such as sanitation, disease prevention and nutrition education.

There have been 6,943 participants trained on disease prevention, surpassing the goal of 6,000.
- There have been 7,000 participants trained about proper nutrition, surpassing the goal of 6,000.
Output objective: Participants have more diverse crops.

Fifty-five per cent (55%) of seed loans from last year have been repaid.
- Seed loans for the coming year will happen in the next quarter.
Output objective: Participants have improved access to clean water and sanitation.

Four (4) new shallow wells were dug this quarter bringing the total to 12 (150% above target).
- There have been 2,851 latrines built.
Output objective: Communities will have increased control of local grain supplies through community storage.

Twelve (12) grain storage facilities have been established and are functioning.
Output objective: More participants are raising small livestock, especially goats.

There have been 1,816 participants provided with goats, well above the target of 1,000.
Outcome objective: Improve health and nutrition in the communities.

Of the 5,901 children being monitored, 73% are in the normal weight for age range. This is 1,901 more children than planned being weighed although the number in the normal weight for age range is 14% less than planned.
- Seven (7) new and the ongoing 22 Women in Development (WID) groups have:
- Access to protected water.
- A latrine in every household.
- Average annual attendance of WID groups is over 75% showing that women were healthy enough to come to class most of the time.
